Question of the Day...........

QOD: What were they thinking? Seriously.........!

Okay. I'm just trying to get my bearings here for a moment to even ask the question I want to ask. But first, I suppose I must set the stage somewhat.

Email addresses are virtually free, right? I mean, anyone with an internet connection, at home, school or even the public library, can open their own gmail, or yahoo or hotmail account. To differentiate themselves or have a little fun, people choose nicknames, unique identifiers, something other than their real name, because let's face it, that name may be taken already by the other Suzie Smith. And so, with little or no hassle you are up and running and communicating with lost friends and relatives, old boyfriends, new girlfriends, prospective employers.........ziiip. (Sound of needle scratching).

So when you are putting forth your resume online, showing your stuff to a potential employer, asking for A LOT of money to do a job you really know nothing about..... QOD: How credible do you think you appear when your name is Mr. Rudolph and your hotmail says, please communicate with me at Rednose@freemail.com? !!

How can I take this guy seriously? I'm imagining some guy with a big, red, bulbous nose, a la W.C. Fields, back from his liquid lunch, pouring out of NY taxicabs on his way to see clients.

Perhaps ole W.C. should hook up with my new-found online friend, Beaudroleen, who in response to my query of what kind of compensation are you looking for? writes back....." I'm looking for a total package of between $100,000 to $150,000 but that's negocaitable for the right position. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you again soon! Beaudroleen

The internet is great, but it's no excuse for being cutsie, lazy, or just plain dumb. I'm going back to the phones, at least when you're just blabbing away to someone, spell check is not a requirement.
