I'll always live by the 'Wisdom of Uma' - or the Mom-isms that were inculcated in me at an early age by my Mom. Here are 10 life lessons she taught me:
- Common sense ain't so common
- Some people pass school - but fail life
- When in doubt - observe
- Go to school to learn to be with and how to interact with your peers
- Dress to what you aspire
- Live within your means
- Save your $$
- Failure to plan is a plan for failure - set goals
- If your young and not a liberal - you have no heart. If you're old and not conservative - you have no brain (*note: paraphrase from a quote often attributed to Winston Churchill, but many have refuted the claim.)
- Be kind and gentle and be a good friend
- Bonus = optimism is always good
What will we leave our children today? I wish that beside the mountain of debt that abounds in this great US of A and the state of California, that we leave our children with love and a good foundation, faith in their fellow man and some of the 'Wisdom of Uma.'
